Ancient Order of Hibernians in America
A Catholic, Irish-American Fraternal Organization founded in New York City and Pennsylvania in 1836. The Order in America traces its origins back to an organization, of similar name and purpose, which has existed in Ireland for over 300 years. However, while both organizations share a common thread, the North American A.O.H. is a totally separate and much larger fraternity. The A.O.H. has been at the forefront on Irish issues from Immigration Reformto Human Rights issues.
